Thames Estuary growth plans
We’re working to ensure that Local London benefits from the ambitions growth plans for the Thames Estuary.
The Thames Estuary 2050 Growth Commission has published an ambitious blueprint for the Thames Estuary.
The prospective jobs, homes, business start-ups and revenue this could create by 2050 would make a significant difference to the lives of people in our sub-region. This is equal in ambition to the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Engine.
Kate Willard OBE has been appointed as the Envoy for the Thames Estuary to lead and champion growth plans for the region.
The Thames Estuary Growth Board is driving this project forward. We’ll be campaigning to ensure that the Board delivers on the Commission’s blueprint.
Local London is represented on the board by 2 of our leaders:
- Councillor Darren Rodwell, our chairman and Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council
- Councillor Teresa O’Neill OBE, Leader of Bexley Council
